Profile
Steve is currently Head of Medical Services at Sheffield United FC having joined in September 2021 after previously holding the position of ‘Lead Rehabilitation Physiotherapist’ at Huddersfield Town AFC from 2017. Prior to his switch to football, Steve spent 8 years in Rugby Union, in which time he worked at representative level with the RFU and experienced European, Premiership and Championship competitions at club level, where he was ‘Lead Physiotherapist’ for 6 years and then ‘Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation’. Simultaneously he held successful roles with a triple Olympic Snowboard-Cross athlete who competed at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, a brief consultant role with Samoa Rugby Union, and acted as director and clinical lead in his own private practice. Steve gained First Class honours in qualification from Leeds Metropolitan in ‘BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy’ in 2008 having previously studied ‘BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science’ between 2001-2004. More recently, he obtained a ‘Distinction’ from the University of Bath after completing the research phase of his ‘MSc Sport Physiotherapy’, investigating the effects of an eccentric strengthening intervention in professional footballers His pursuits of academia and recognition of his clinical work Steve has delivered University lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing careers in physiotherapy and/or sport.
